Kabir Suman, the maverick singer-composer, poet, novelist, journalist, political activist, TV presenter and actor, has decided to record his autobiography as a series of audio files
to be uploaded on YouTube.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Suman (72), a household name in Bengal, revealed to his followers that the series would be called Beje Otha Smriti.
The young Suman Chattopadhyay, as he was then known, burst onto the alternative
Bangla music scene for the urban audience in the late 1980s. He is credited with starting the trend of jibonmukhi Bengali songs in which a singer-songwriter eschewed the set patterns of Bengali songs.
He also has had a brush with politics as the Trinamul MP from Jadavpur before calling it quits.
The audio autobiography series will not have a conventional chronological order to it.
It will be a series of recollections sewn together with melody and rhythm, Suman posted.
His followers on social media have shown keen interest in the project.
